19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the American major.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks his maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface after March of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 different competitions.
"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in that event in the past months.
The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.
But the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, supported by an enhanced serving game.
He came back from a break down in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first tour championship, gained dominance to push for a final set.
The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a close final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
